Considerable attention has been given to increasing Lulwanda’s ability to sustainably provide its own food and develop income opportunities to offset operating costs. Namajje Farm is a 10 acre parcel of land where mango trees, tilapia fish and eucalyptus trees are being grown in an effort to provide fruit, protein and income for Lulwanda Children’s Home. Recent addition of a water well at Namajje increases the farm’s ability to weather the dry season and ensure the crops and fish have plenty of water. At the new Lulwanda Farm, expansion of the piggery and dairy operations is yielding training in agriculture for our children, fresh milk for the children’s consumption and income as we sell excess pigs and milk into the regional market.
