An important part of the growth and development of the children is the outreach programs carried out at Lulwanda. We consider it essential that the children learn to bless others, in the same way as sponsors and supporters on the other side of the world have blessed them.
Our largest and most structured outreach program, active since 2007, is the Good Neighbor Program. In this project, the children of Lulwanda are each paired with a child from a neighboring community family. The participating neighbor children annually receive a school uniform, a pair of shoes, school supplies and a hygiene kit, which will enable them to attend school in their own community. Even though Government school primary education is free in Uganda, many families cannot afford the uniform and supplies required to send their children to school. Approximately 3 times per year, the participating neighborhood children come to LCH to join their partners for a full day of activities and play time, ending with a party for all.
